Apprenticeship Opportunity

This Picture was taken in 2004 when we were fortunate enough to spend a day with Paul whilst he was on tour in Australia.   Here you can see Paul demonstrating how to feel energy with our eldest son.

Often as parents, we forget to really be ‘present’ with our children and listen to them speak their true nature, or, of what they are experiencing through their growth. (I know…, I am a busy mum to 2 lads!)  I don’t necessarily mean physical growth.  Understandably, you cannot listen or begin to understand someone else’s true nature if you haven’t been able or fortunate enough to spend time with yourself and listen to your own!

Last week when my 10 year old son, came home from school he showed me, as my boys often do., what he had composed in one of his lessons that day.  Both Ryan and Josh (8yrs) attend Kamaroi Rudolf Steiner School and what they bring home is quite unique and different to that of a main stream school.  (This I’ve realized and witnessed as they both attended a Catholic School and have noticeably seen the difference).  Anyway, Ryan had written the days of the week on a piece of paper and had drawn a certain colour next to each day of the week,  as instructed by his teacher.  Each colour representing how he felt on that particular day of the week.   Beautiful!  How wonderful to be able to instruct the children and allow them to go inwards and assess and experience their true feelings on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level! Thank you Matthew!  This was very interesting to see which colours were chosen – all of them the colours of the chakra system.  After observing his paper, I then asked Ryan to stand in front of me, close his eyes and listen to my instructions.  I mentioned a colour, the first being yellow, and asked him to touch the area of his body where he felt yellow.  He placed his hand on his solar plexus.  Next I said Purple and he cupped his hand over his eyebrow centre and forehead.   He continued to place his hand to the area of each colour I mentioned.  He was feeling his energy centres throughout his body.   How Cool!

See how much you can learn from a child?  I felt so much more love for him and myself as we connected (or reconnected) on a deeper level.   Dont you just love those moments!  How empowering for either your son or daughter and YOU to also have these experiences!  Im sure you have experienced those times when as a parent, we’ve told our son/ daughter, whilst in their imaginative and creative world., not to “imagine” such silly things, or “tell stories” or “not now, Im busy” or……?   So whilst we fall into these programs or thought processes, what if we stopped ourselves in our tracks and realized that our children are teaching us or trying to share something with us?  Our beloved little ones live so much in the “now” and are so sensitive and curious to their surroundings, themselves, the nature of things, nature itself, their families & friends etc..as parents/adults, we tend to lose touch of these things.  They take everything in at such magnitude.  As a young child their nature is to live in a world of make believe and playfullness., out and about in nature and exploring the many wonders of our place in it.   In a Rudolf Steiner School the child is supported and nurtured through their growing stages and are taught using both the left/right brain stimuli.  I will blog more on the Rudolf Steiner Schooling next time.  So…,how much do our children have of “Play” time today?  At the tender age of 5 our kids are forced to read (some of which we feel may be more than ready), to memorize number sequences, sums, but not without the use of calulators, to do homework and are exposed to media by the masses.

If we just went without television, imagine how much free time we would have to play, create, explore, be present and feel and to truly be with each other!

So on my close, I ask you….what did you learn from your beautiful child today?  Did you stop and really listen?

With love and chi

Cathy
